About

The value of Baseline’s service is a direct result of personal experience and knowledge.

Kevin Jablonski, PhD, MS

In 2025, my wife, two daughters, and I moved back to upstate NY after a decade in Colorado. We bought 102 acres of land in Enfield, NY, between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes. The process of purchasing and evaluating that land (and other parcels along the way) showed me that there is a strong need for expert assistance in land assessment and planning in the region. I realized that, with my background, I am perhaps uniquely suited to provide this. My credentials:

  • PhD in grazing agroecology from Colorado State University, former extension grazing specialist for the State of Colorado and professor at CSU. Advised ranchers, landowners, and agencies in ecological assessment and grazing planning.
  • MS in conservation biology from SUNY ESF, 10+ years of experience in wildlife conservation and field biology, with a specialty in bird habitats.
  • 10+ years of direct farming experience in livestock and vegetables, including managing a large direct market beef farm in Central NY.
  • Ongoing and past consulting work on ecological assessment, livestock management, and management planning for the National Park Service, US Forest Service, USAID, and local and international NGOs.
  • Professional GIS (mapping software) user for >20 years.
  • Daily management of my own 102-acre farmstead, including forest management and timber harvest, wetland management, and ongoing development of food production.

I believe my experience speaks for itself. However, it is also critical to communicate that my first priority is to be helpful. Too often it feels like the people we hire aim to charge as much as they can while doing as little as they can. I have been burned by that too many times and reject that approach.

Right now I am the main person working at Baseline, but I have a broad network of experienced experts to tap as needed. Please reach out if you have any questions!
